The wonderful irony about this spiritual journey is that we find it only leads us to become just as we are. The exalted state of enlightenment is nothing more than fully knowing ourselves and our world, just as we are.
~Pema Chodron
We met the “unwelcome” all throughout 2020, and we will likely face some of the same in this new year. Pema Chodron’s new book offers us ways of showing up just as we are even while meeting injustice, suffering, and uncertainty.
Together we will read Pema’s Welcoming the Unwelcome: Wholeheartedly Living in a Brokenhearted World and explore the various themes through Gestalt Awareness Practice exercises.
In this book, Pema asks us to begin with a broken heart, and to cultivate Bodhichitta, the awakened heart. She is infinitely practical and gentle in her recommendations. Each week we will come to group having read the assigned sections, and then delve into one or more themes with GAP exercises designed to help us access her teachings through direct experience.
Prerequisite is any Gestalt Awareness Practice program. Those who have not attended a GAP program, but would like to participate, contact Sharon Terry about a 1 hour orientation seminar prior to the program. You may miss weeks or join late, since access to the webinar recordings is part of the course.
